Falcon Global Edge, Inc. was conceived and incorporated as Falcon Air Freight, Inc. in 1987. As our "family" expanded, and both our clients and our service offerings diversified, we re-branded as Falcon Global Edge® in 2006. Falcon is headquartered in Boston, MA, with two independent agents in St. Louis, MO and San Francisco, CA that do business under the Falcon banner.
The Falcon family continued to grow with the founding of Falcon Global Distribution, Inc. in 2006. Falcon Global Distribution™ is dedicated to third-party logistics, operating a 120,000 square foot warehouse in Hayward, CA. In December, 2008, Falcon Global Distribution™ became licensed by TSA as the nation's first Certified Cargo Screening Facility.
The Falcon flag flies over the Netherlands as well. Falcon Logistics, B.V. shares common ownership with Falcon, operating as both a freight forwarder and warehouse operation in Amsterdam. Richard Fisher is a shareholder in Falcon Logistics, B.V. and assisted in the initial formation of that entity. Falcon Logistics, B.V. utilizes Falcon's trademarks under license.
Falcon Global Edge® serves a wide variety of clients in specialized industries ranging from high technology audio and video products to waste management systems. To serve this diverse client base, we utilize all transportation modes; air, ocean, rail, truck and charter services. On average, in 2009, 75% of our freight forwarding revenue was derived from international services.
Several clients of Falcon use both freight forwarding and warehouse services. We have developed a model where shipments originate from manufacturers in Asia and then move via our service either to the Hayward warehouse for end user distribution or to other partner warehouses in Amsterdam, Australia, Ireland or Japan. Our partner in Hong Kong assists in originating these shipments, primarily from Hong Kong and Shanghai. Our primary partner relationships in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dublin, London, Melbourne, Amsterdam and Frankfurt are long standing, averaging between ten and twenty years. The Hong Kong partner operates a nearly 300,000 sq. ft. warehouse where many of these shipments are consolidated prior to shipment. Our business model is made much more durable because of our longstanding partnership with these members of the Falcon "extended" family.
Falcon Global Edge® maintains a comprehensive regulatory compliance practice reporting to Falcon's General Counsel. Falcon is licensed by TSA as an indirect air carrier and operates two Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, one in Hayward, CA and (via a trusted partner) a second in Boston, MA. Falcon is also validated under CBP's C-TPAT program and is a long standing participant in that program. Falcon is also licensed as an Ocean Transportation Intermediary by the Federal Maritime Commission. Finally, Richard Fisher is the current Chairman of the Air Forwarder's Association (AFA) and serves on the Air Cargo Subcommittee of the Commercial Operations Advisory Committee (COAC) which advises DHS on security matters. We believe an aggressive compliance practice serves the dual purpose of providing existing clients with critical, early advice on how trends in the regulatory environment will affect their business and helps us bring new clients on board through the application of that compliance expertise.
